Surprise delivery to P4
In the 2nd week in September P4 got a surprise delivery to the classroom, a cup with 4 butterfly eggs!! Over the following weeks they watched each egg transform from a tiny little black dot into a caterpillar, then a chrysalis and eventually into a fully-grown butterfly. When they reached the chrysalis stage they had to be carefully moved from the cup into a butterfly net. At this stage P4 definitely thought that some had died. However on a bright sunny afternoon in early October P4 gathered in the school garden to release all 4 healthy colourful butterflies. P4 waved goodbye as the butterflies flew off to find their way in the outside world.
