Learning Through Play

12th Oct 2024

Mrs McKernan not only leads Outdoor Learning and Play Based Learning in our school but also brings her expertise to other Foundation Stage Educators. She has been sharing her good practise to develop an understanding of the development opportunities for children through play. The educator has the opportunity to plan play to enable every child to learn more effectively through thinking, problem solving, communication, socially, emotionally and both independently and collaboratively learning from their peers and guiding their peers. Mrs McKernan has benefited from training to enable her to provide the best start to a child’s education in their most suitable and known form of learning through play.
Mrs McKernan not only leads but continues to benefit from the leadership of Pam Lowry and her team. Mrs McKernan brings her daily experiences to the theory and makes her knowledge and experiences available to many educators and in turn children through her involvement in the recent Learning Through Play webinar. Mrs McKernan was delighted to facilitate two webinars alongside Pam Lowry, Principal of Killylea P.S to 355 schools across N.I, sharing their expertise on ‘Creating Engaging Play Based Learning Opportunities’.
